I have a faculty member which wishes to use several of the UP series documentaries and cannot figure out where to get the rights from.

Right now the series lists -- eight films: Seven UP, 7 Plus Seven, 21 UP, 28 UP, 35 UP, 42 UP, 49 UP, and 56 UP.

The 56 Up is in Kanopy and several of them are available on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdwfk5rO8GGNHjEzOHPbAtA/featured

And it looks like the periodically show up on Netflix, but don't seem to be part of the titles available for academic use.

But we would like to make sure that we can stream them for classroom use.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks - Stephen

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.

Hi Stephen,

All of the UK UP documentaries except for 49 UP are available in the Films
on Demand database, which it looks like U of Illinois Springfield does not
have.

You might want to try First Run Features to see about licensing these films
for streaming: http://firstrunfeatures.com/upseries_educational.html

All best,
